LGBTQIA Family Building
Specialized reproductive counseling for individuals and couples going through donor conception, surrogacy, adoption, and/or single parenthood. Navigate the medical, emotional, and relational complexities of creating your family with clarity.
How Can I Support You
If you’re a LGBTQ+ individual or couple living in Texas and wanting to build a family, you’ve come to the right place. You might be thinking about using IVF or IUI, working with a donor (egg or sperm), considering surrogacy, adopting an embryo, or exploring adoption. Whatever path you’re on or thinking about, I can help you work through the decisions, emotions, and questions that come with it.

Explore what intentional single parenthood means for you. Address questions about timing, resources, identity, and how to build the support systems you’ll need. You are capable of having the family you want, so let’s work together to help you establish a foundation.

Work through the decisions, expectations, and emotional considerations around using a donor egg, sperm, or embryo. Let’s explore what feels right for your family.

Navigate the unique complexities of using a surrogate. Address relationship dynamics, expectations, grief, identity, and the ongoing questions that arise. We can talk through all the scenarios that come up when utilizing a surrogate.

Process the specific implications of embryo adoption—including genetic distance, family dynamics, and how you want to think and talk about your child’s origins. There are many factors to go over prior to implantation, which is why meeting with a professional can help go through areas you may not have considered yet.
What We'll Work On Together
My approach addresses the full scope of family building: the logistical and medical, the emotional and psychological, and the relational and identity dimensions that come with it.
Reproductive Counseling & Education
We’ll talk through your different options (IVF, IUI, donors, surrogacy, adoption) so you understand how each one works and what’s realistic for your situation. I’ll help you think through expenses, timelines, medical procedures, and what success and failure may look like.
Single Parenthood by Choice
If you’re considering becoming a parent on your own, we explore whether this feels right for you. We talk about what you need financially and emotionally, how this might affect your life and relationships, and how to build a support network that will be there for you.
Third Party Reproduction Counseling
Using a donor or surrogate brings up a lot of feelings and decisions. We work through what it means to create a family this way, how you feel about genetic connection, what you want to know about the donor or surrogate, and how these decisions might shape your family going forward.
Identity, Role, & Relationship Changes
Family building changes you. We talk about how you see yourself shifting, how your relationship with your partner might evolve, and how parenthood might fit into your identity as a LGBTQ+ person.
Discrimination, Bias & Judgment
You may face criticism or judgment from family, friends, doctors, or society about your choice to have a family or how you’re building it. We process those experiences and work through any doubts you have about whether you “deserve” to be a parent.
Coming Out & Disclosure
You get to decide who knows about your family building process and what they know. We work through who to tell, when to tell them, and how to handle people’s reactions or questions. Additionally, when you become a parent, you’ll decide what and when to tell your child about how their family was created and about your identity. We explore different ways to talk about these things in ways that feel honest and age-appropriate.
Building & Maintaining Support Systems
Parenting is easier and better when you have people around you who get it and support you. We identify who those people are in your life and figure out how to strengthen those relationships or find new communities that understand your family.
Access to Trusted Resources
I connect you with evidence-based information, reliable medical providers, and LGBTQ+ communities so you’re not doing this alone. You’ll have resources you can actually trust.
A Grounded Approach
I work with individuals and couples throughout Texas. Whether you are building a family in San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, or anywhere else in Texas I am available. I operate from a place of direct honesty about what family building actually entails. There are medical complexities, financial decisions, relational negotiations, and identity questions that matter. You don’t need someone to tell you everything will be fine—you need someone who understands the landscape, validates what’s real, and helps you move forward with intention.
All sessions are conducted virtually, so you can access support from wherever you are.
